“Domain Host Management Options...”

Domain Processing Rules

...(different than User processing rules, these rules are at the Host (Domain) level. Processing rules are used to direct mail based on the contents of the  To, From, Sender, Subject, the message Header, or the message Body fields.

...Rules are helpful in filtering out SPAM, and e-mails that contain certain types of attached files. You can also use rules to direct mail that you get, such as a newsletter, into a specific mailbox.

...E-MailPLUS Administrator supports the following two types of processing rules:

.........Inbound processing rules. Inbound processing rules apply for incoming mail that will be processed by E-MailPLUS Server. Inbound processing rules can be created and applied at three levels: the Mail host (domain), individual user and list server mailing list.

........Outbound processing rules. Outbound processing rules filter messages that are sent out through E-MailPLUS Server by local users and apply only at the host (domain) level.

User Administration

...Allows a Domain administrator to add, delete and display user accounts. It also enables an administrator to change the user's password or make other modifications to the account.

Alias Administration

...Alias administration allows the administrator to add, display, modify, or delete an alias.

...An Alias is another name for an e-mail address, (a number of addresses, or an application).

…NOTE:  Do not create aliases that are identical to existing user IDs. Mail addressed to an alias that is identical to a user ID will go to the user account dictated by the alias, not to the account represented by the user ID.

...Types of Aliases

.........Standard Alias. A standard alias is a name that indicates a single user ID on the same system, up to four user ID's on the same system, a remote mail address, up to four remote mail addresses or any combination of these.

.........Group Alias. A group alias points to a file that contains a list of valid mail addresses.

“Other Features…”

Unlimited e-mail Addresses

Different from unlimited e-mail aliases, unlimited e-mail addressing assures you that Anything@YourDomain.com will be delivered to the mailbox(s) of your choice. The use of this feature will prevent any message with a typo in the alias from being rejected. (Internal Note: We used to have the feature that we called unlimited e-mail addressing, (star forwarding) where anything at your domain would be sent to the e-mail addresses of your choice. In the new product, this is called 'nobody', where if e-mail is addressed to the domain name, but not any users, then the e-mail will be delivered

Tips

Change Mail Fowarding Information

...You can configure E-MailPLUS to automatically forward your mail to another mail account (at any ISP).

This feature is automatically activated when an e-mail address is present. (In other words, as long as this box is empty, mail is not forwarded.)

...Note: You can forward your mail to more than one e-mail address by entering multiple addresses separated by commas.

...To keep a copy and forward a copy, precede the forwarding address by a dot and a comma, for example, you'd enter .,User@Domain.com to forward mail to User@Domain.com and keep a copy in your own mailbox.

Change Vacation Message

...You can have a vacation message automatically sent to anyone who sends you mail.

This feature is activated when you enter a message in this text box. (In other words, as long as this box is empty, a vacation message is not sent.)

...Note: Compare this feature to the AutoResponse feature (which sends an automatic response to each message that's received, regardless of whether or not the sender has already received the automatic response.

Manage Mailboxes

...Mailboxes are like folders and are often used to organize and store mail.

...Note: Each mailbox has its own unique auto reply and e-mail forwarding capabilities.

…E-MailPLUS automatically creates a mailbox named Main whenever an account is created. E-MailPLUS also creates a mailbox named "Sent" if you set “Save copy of outgoing mail in Sent folder” to “Yes” (in Edit My Preferences). Likewise, it creates a mailbox named "Deleted" if you set your Deleted messages preference to Move to Deleted folder. Keep in mind that e-mail will add up quickly and is considered space used until you delete the Deleted items.

...You can also create "sub-mailboxes," or "sub-folders," within a particular mailbox. For example, a mailbox named "Listings" can have a sub-mailbox named "123 River Street" and another one named "345 Elm Street."

Edit AutoResponse

...Use this area to set up an automatic response so that each time you receive mail, a prepared message is sent back to the sender.

...This feature is activated when you enter text in the Message box. (In other words, if the Message box is empty, no automatic response is sent.)
